For those of you who have successfully launched a start up, what career path did you take, and what would you say best prepares someone to start their own company in the MedTech space?
There are many different ways to get there but I would say the following things are helpful: Technical Skills to be able to create a product, knowledge of IP and last and not least a network in the industry/segment that you are interested in. I personally have the network and business knowledge but not the technical ablility to create IP/Prototype hence I have not yet launched a product oriented startup but a consulting service catering to those with technical ideas but not the network and product management knowledge to create the business. Nothing will prepare you for everything, you just need to dive in and learn to fly while you are building the plane.
